One of the last surviving cloud forests on Earth.

Ancient.
Fragile.
World Heritage protected.

People imagine a cableway as harmless.

Just a few cables in the sky.

But the reality is something very different.

To build a cableway…
you need massive support towers.

Concrete foundations deep inside protected Cloud-forest.

“World Heritage rainforest turned into a construction zone.”

The destruction doesn’t stop with the towers.

Every worker.
Every truck.
Every delivery.
Every cleared access path…
fragments the forest.
Disturbs wildlife.
Damages ecosystems that took millions of years to evolve.

And then there’s the experience itself.

People imagine endless panoramic views…

But this is a cloud forest.

Much of the time…
the cable cars would move through thick cloud and mist.

No view.

Just silence…
fog…
and a tiny metal capsule suspended hundreds of feet above the ground.

What happens during extreme weather?

Springbrook faces storms.
Cyclones.
Power outages.
Winds exceeding 90 kilometres an hour.
Power can be lost for days…
sometimes weeks.

So what happens to the people trapped inside?

Lightning.
Wild winds.
Metal creaking.

And what happens if infrastructure fails?

What happens to the rainforest below…
when towers collapse…
when cables crash through ancient forest canopy?

The route would also impact private properties and wildlife corridors.

Invading not only fragile ecosystems…
but people’s homes, privacy and peace.

And all of this…
to bring even more mass tourism into a mountain environment already struggling to cope.

More traffic.
More waste.
More pollution.

An ecosystem pushed beyond breaking point.

Springbrook became World Heritage listed because it remained wild…
remote…
untouched.

Not because it was suitable for industrial tourism infrastructure.

Once ancient rainforest is destroyed…
you cannot rebuild it.

Once silence is gone…
it rarely returns.
