    In December 2025, Council resolved that the City should undertake the necessary work to investigate and identify potential route options for a cableway. This work is underway and includes community and First Nations engagement. Broad community consultation is expected to start from mid-2026.

    Scientists have confirmed that Springbrook’s ecosystems depend on groundwater, but they also acknowledge that the study has not yet observed how the system behaves during drought conditions. In other words, the risks arehigh and not yet fully understood, which makes precaution particularly important in a World Heritage landscape.
